Myanmar Travel Naga Land & Naga Worriors’ New Year Festival(11th – 17th January, 2012)
Myanmar Travel 7-Day Naga Warriors’ New Year Festival(Yangon – Homalin – Leshi – Naga Festival – Yangon)
Living in remote mountainous area, sharing border with India in the west, with little access to the outside world, the Naga people have little understanding of what is beyond their emerald mountains surrounding them. For centuries the Naga people here have survived, living only on this isolated land and preserving their ways of life.
Every January of the year, the Naga people from different part of their region gather at one of their towns to celebrate their Naga festival. They have to walk several days over mountains and through valleys in order to celebrate the Naga New Year Festival if the festival is held far away from where they live. The festival lasts two days and it is only recently that the foreigners can visit and enjoy in their festival. The Naga Nationals, however, are not performing any shows for the visiting outsiders but enjoying what they perform for the New Year since the time of bygone ancestors.
There is many a clan that speaks their respective native languages. And also their customs and traditions may also differ, but they live by the concept that they are brothers to the spirit of nature. They prefer the wild jungle and remote mountaintops to the comfortable and modern lives of the City.
